Monitoring Strategy: Hang traps at least 1-1.5 m off of the ground, especially during the summer months when adults emerge. When trapping for multiple species of insect, space traps out by at least 20 m. Check with Cooperative Extension or Master Gardener for local information and recommendations.

Cultural and Physical Control: Check for rolled leaves within host trees, as well as for larvae that may be within. Remove infested branches if possible or as necessary.

Distribution: Western and Central Europe, the Near East Asia and Iran

Hosts: Birch, Species of Apple (including cooking apple, crabapple), Plum, Apricot, Cherry, Peaches, Nectarine, Almond, Peach, and Pear. Also feeds on Oak, Sallow, Ivy, and Bilberry species.

Description: Adult moths: Wingspan of 19-30 mm, light sand-gray with an olive sheen, with dark brown along the fringes of the forewings.

Larvae: Varies in color from blue green to dark gray.

Life Cycle: Moths fly between May and July. Larvae live within the leaves of host trees, rolling them and binding them with silk.
