Schedule of the day:

8:30 am ‒ Welcome and overview. Current aphid pests and study evaluating beneficial insects for their control

9:30 am ‒Discussion of past aphid damage, controls and results. Group discussion of beneficial insects and control.

10:00 am ‒ IPM framework for aphid control on Christmas trees

Break – coffee and refreshments are provided (displays of predators and aphids)

11:00 ‒Describe and ID key aphid predators and release protocols (Aphidius, Aphidoletes, ladybugs, and lacewings)

11:30 ‒ Current research efforts in bio-control on field conifers, scouting tips for field, ID of Beneficial’s – both released and local (keys for participants)

Lunch ‒provided with registration

1:00-4:00 pm ‒ Field site tour where beneficial predators have been released. Check for presence/absence. Discuss scouting and ID.
