Description: Anystis baccarum aka Crazee mite or Whirligig mite is a cosmopolitan generalist predatory mite. Crazee mites are highly mobile and relatively large red mites. Nymphs are paler in color, smaller and slower and more difficult to see.

Description: Anystis baccarum aka Crazee mite or Whirligig mite is a cosmopolitan generalist predatory mite. Crazee mites are highly mobile and relatively large red mites. Several hairs are noticeable on their legs and abdomen. Nymphs are paler in color, smaller and slower and more difficult to see.
Use in Biological Control: All mobile stages of Anystis baccarum are predatory. Anystis can be used in greenhouses, nurseries, floriculture and indoor house plants.
LIfe Cycle: Anystis or Crazee mites are all female. Anystis has one larval and three nymph stages before reaching adulthood. There is pupation separating each stage and can last just over one week. Anystis adults live, feed and continually lay eggs for up to three weeks. Time from egg to egg-laying adult is approximately 4 weeks.
