Description: Adults: Wingspan of 25-32 mm. Adults are 25 mm in length, have black abdomens w/ four yellow transverse stripes, and comb like antennae. The wings are clear.
Larvae: Larvae are legged, white with a brown head, and between 25 and 33 mm when mature.
Eggs: Brown in color, 1mm diameter, laid singly near the margin on the underside of blackberry leaflets.
Life Cycle: Adults take wing from the end of July until September. Larvae feed on the roots of the host plant for two years total, with pupation occurring in a gallery, sans cocoons.
